Everything between the dream and the first morning chores.
Consultation, equipment, labour, animals, building and landscaping. Pick what you need; we'll fill the gaps.
We come to you across southern Manitoba, within about two hours of the ranch.
- Onsite consultation
Walk the land together
We come to your property, walk it with you, and talk through where the water goes, where the wind comes from, where the shelter should sit and what to do first. You leave with a plan and a priority list.
- The right machine for a weekend
Equipment rentals
Post pounders, augers, skid steer, trailers and the small tools you only need once. Delivered, with a five-minute lesson and a phone number if it goes sideways.
- Extra hands that know which end of the post goes in
Hands-on labour
Fencing days, shelter builds, clean-outs, gravel, drainage. Book us for a day or a week. We work alongside you if you want to learn, or just get it done if you don't.
- Horses, miniature horses, goats, chickens
Animal know-how
Which animals fit your land and your life, where to find good ones, how to bring them home, what the first month looks like. We'll help you set up feed, water, shelter and routines before anybody arrives.
- Built for your animals and your winters
Barns, sheds & coops
Run-in shelters, hay storage, coops, goat sheds, tack rooms and small barns. Sized to what you're keeping, placed where the snow doesn't drift in.
- Drainage, driveways, shelterbelts, gardens
Landscaping & land shaping
The unglamorous work that makes a farm pleasant to live on: grading, gravel, drainage, windbreaks, raised beds, ponds and dugouts, the yard around the house.
Questions
How much land do I actually need?+
Chickens are happy in a backyard. Two goats want a quarter acre or so. A miniature horse wants half an acre; a horse wants one to two acres each, plus hay through the winter. The Farm Dreamer does this math for you.
Do you sell animals?+
No, and we think that's a good thing. We help you figure out what you want, find reputable sources, and set everything up before the animals arrive.
Can you just do the whole thing?+
Yes. Consultation, fencing, shelters, water, landscaping, then animal setup. Or pick the pieces you want and do the rest yourself; we'll show you how.
What does a consultation cost?+
Talk to us. The first conversation is free, and an onsite walk-through is priced by distance. We'll tell you up front.
What area do you cover?+
Southern Manitoba, roughly two hours from the ranch. Further for bigger projects; ask.
Is a hobby farm expensive?+
It can be. It doesn't have to be. The expensive part is doing things twice. Our whole job is making sure you do them once. We work out real numbers with you on your land, not from a web page.
I haven't bought land yet. Can you help?+
Please ask us before you buy. Slope, water, wind, soil and access make or break a farm, and we can read them in an afternoon.
Talk to us about your land
This isn't a sales call. It's a conversation about your land, your animals and your first season. Bring your questions; we'll bring seven years of mistakes you don't have to make.
